Featured Project: Hyatt Regency

The Hyatt Regency Toronto, a 19-story hotel in the heart of downtown, required refinishing of its aging pre-finished metal facade. Over decades, the original factory-applied coating had faded and weathered, prompting a full restoration to revive the building’s appearance and durability. 

The project involved applying a new Coraflon® fluoropolymer coating system – an ultra-durable, field-applied finish designed for restoring weathered architectural metals. Thanks to careful planning and execution, the entire repainting project was completed within the scheduled timeframe, with minimal disruption to hotel operations.  

Achieving proper surface preparation on a high-rise exterior was essential. The team removed failing coatings and abraded surfaces to promote adhesion. Variable weather conditions such as temperature, humidity, and wind required daily adjustments to the work plan. Ensuring a uniform spray finish on a large, vertical exterior surface presented a technical challenge that was met with skilled application and real-time monitoring. 

The project was completed on schedule, and the hotel’s exterior now features a consistent, high-performance finish. The Coraflon® coating restored the building’s appearance while offering long-term durability. No overspray or damage occurred to adjacent surfaces, and the project was executed safely and professionally in a busy downtown environment. 

The client was highly satisfied with the results and the minimal disruption to hotel operations.
